___________________________________________________________Frequently asked Questions
____________________________________________________
1.) Will you blow the siding or shingles off my house or roof? No. If any piece of siding is lose or missing I will put it back up or together for you before pressure washing it. If something happens to come lose while power washing I will fix it.
2.) How much water is needed to pressure wash my house? About 3-4 showers/baths worth, maybe 50 cents.
3.) Are you going to harm my plants, shrubs, grass, siding, kids, pets? No. We understand your concern and are very careful, know what we are doing and have never had any problems like that. We are very cautious of where we walk and drag our hoses. Our chemical breaks down naturally.
4.) How often do people get their house washed? Every year or two as needed
5.) Do I have to take my air conditioner or screens out? No that's ok
6.) Should I move stuff away from my house or off my deck? No. I can move the grill and patio furniture around and most anything else so its ok.
7.) Will water get behind my siding? No. The siding is overlapping and interlocks with each other so no water can get underneath or behind. There are tiny leak holes underneath the bottom flap of the siding for moisture to drain.
8.) Will water get behind my windows or doors? No. Not if you lock your windows and doors. Sometimes it does with older ones that dont close properly but its only water not chemical and minimal...sometimes its good to lay a towel down
9.) Can you power wash all that mold, mildew, alga, lichen, moss off my house, deck or roof? Yes. All that stuff comes off with the right pressure washer, chemical, ladder, nozzle and professional.
10.) How do you pressure wash the high spots? Ladders and special nozzles, also can use an extension wand or rent a boom lift to go up to 100 feet.
11.) How long does it take you to power wash a house? Generally a few hours.
12.) What time of the year is the best to have your house washed? Any time of the year is good for us and can usually always book your appointment within 2 weeks
13.) Do I have to be home for the day of service? No, most customers tape a check in a sealed envelope to the door payable to East Coast Power Washing.
14.) Is it okay to power wash roof shingles? Yes this is not a problem if done by a professional.
15.) Do you know I called a few places and nobody called me back and/or showed up? Yes I hear that all the time. Apparently a few companies do not show up or call back.
16.) Are you a franchise? No I started this company in 2004.
17.) How do you prevent black artillery mold? fungus (shotgun fungus)? Change your bark mulch regularly. Get your house power washed every spring. Use rock pebbles instead. Do not use recycled mulch. Remove mulch before April. Use bark mulch not wood chip mulch, especially pine bark mulch, cedar & redwood. Spores shoot off of mushrooms up to 20 feet and is like super glue landing on siding, cars, decks etc usually on the sunny side of homes.
18.) How do you stop dirt from kicking up on the siding when it rains? Lay rock pebbles a foot or two around your house.
19.) How did you learn how to power wash? I paid a guy from California $1,000 with 20 years experience 10 years ago to fly over for a few days.
20.) I have well water is that ok? Yes not a problem I know how to work around that. Please don't use the water while we are there and please try and give us a full well.
21.) How long after it is power washed should I wait before painting or staining? You should wait a week on average but depends on the type of wood and how much sun the wood gets during the day. Most painters will paint and power wash the same day causing it to peel and mold much quicker.
22.) How do you help prevent green mildew etc on the house and roof? Make sure the pressure of your sprinkler heads are not turned up too high on the north sides of your house and/or watering habits don't hit the siding where the sun doesn't shine. Clean your gutters yearly.
23.) Is it true painters/contractors don't know how to or like to do house washing? Yes, painters or contractors are most likely not skilled house washers and usually do not know what they are doing. House washing is a special skill that needs to be done with the right chemical, nozzles, equipment and experience for best results and price. Most painters hate getting wet and maintaining the equipment. They will cut corners or not power wash at all. You wouldn't want an ear specialist working on your heart.
24.) How much does it cost to power wash a house? See rates
25.) What types of payment do you take? We accept checks, cash & credit cards while on the job or via PayPal. Gift Certificates Available.
26.) Do you work in the rain? Yes rain or shine we will be there.
27.) What do you need me to do? Make
sure all your windows and doors are locked and shut and at least one
outside faucet is working Please try not to use your water while I am
at your house (dishwasher, sprinkler, toilet, washer, shower) Try and
keep the cars away from your house or in garage the day of service. Try
not to be coming in and out of your house and keep the pets and children
inside as well. Call Mon-Sun to set an appointment for service.
